Day 01

On a clear day, from one side of the aircraft can be seen in the distance the peaks of K2, Nanga Parbat and Gasherbrum, while on the other side of the aircraft, so close that you feel you could reach out and touch it, is the Nun Kun massif. On arrival, you will met by our representative and transferred to the hotel for check in, followed by welcome tea or coffee. Complete day for rest and leisure to acclimatize. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 02

Leh - Excursion to Sham Valley (50 kms / 3-4 hours)

After breakfast, drive downstream along River Indus on the Leh-Kargil highway. Start your sightseeing with the Hall Of Fame, a museum constructed by the Indian Army near Leh which is worth a visit for every Indian. Proceed further to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib at an altitude of 3,600 m. Located around 22 Kms from Leh and nestled deep in the Himalayas, it was built in the memory of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism and the first of ten Sikh Gurus.

A drive of another 4 km takes us to Magnetic Hill, which defies the laws of gravity. After Magnetic Hills, just before Nimmu Village, comes a famous confluence of two rivers: Indus River coming from Tibet (left) and Zanskar River coming from the Zanskar Valley (right). Zanskar River is known for its famous Chadar Trek. Later, drive back to Leh. In the evening, visit Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa and Leh Market. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 03

Leh - Nubra Valley via Khardung La [18,390 feet] (120 kms / 4-5 hours)

Post breakfast we drive to Nubra Valley. The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La (the highest motorable road in the world), situated at 5,602 m / 18,390 feet, around 39 km from Leh. From the pass, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser Kangri massif. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldumra, or the valley of flowers. It is situated in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. The average altitude of the valley is 10,000 feet above sea level.

Upon arrival in Nubra, check in at a camp or hotel. In the evening, drive to Hunder where you will get an opportunity to ride on a Bactrian (double-humped) camel amidst the sand dunes of this high-altitude desert with snow-capped mountains on the horizon. Between Hunder and Diskit, you will come across sand dunes beside the road. Seen in isolation, you could well be amongst the sand dunes of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan. On the way back, stop at Diskit, which is the headquarter town of Nubra Valley. Stroll around the bazaar, observing the shops and local people going about their daily chores. Diskit is famous for a 515-year-old Buddhist Monastery, situated magnificently on a hilltop facing the entire Valley. Later, drive back to the camp/hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 04

Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake (170 kms / approx. 7 hours)

Post breakfast, drive towards Pangong Tso via Agham and Shyok Valley. Some of the road patches in areas are extremely tough (towards the Nubra side) in terms of road conditions, but the journey is very scenic!

After crossing this adventurous part, drive further towards Durbuk & Tangtse for Pangong. Pass through a few small villages of Changthang before the Pangong Lake - situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 m) - suddenly comes into view. This famous blue brackish lake is 5-6 kms wide and over 133 kms long, with half of it running on the other side of the Indo- China Border. One rarely feels so close to nature and the environment, and the scenery is unforgettable. After the success of the film 3 Idiots, this beautiful natural location has attracted more tourists from all over the world. Upon arrival, check in at a camp near Pangong lake. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
