Day 01

Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri - Gangtok

Welcome on arrival at Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station and transfer to Gangtok (114 kms / 4.5 hours). At an altitude of 5,500 feet, Gangtok - the capital of the state of Sikkim - is a beautiful and clean town promising the best monasteries and landscapes. Evening free for individual activity and leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 02

Excursion Trip to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir

Early morning, proceed for a day trip to Tsomgo Lake (12,400 feet), which is only 32 kms from Gangtok City. The lake is almost 1 km long, oval in shape and 15 m deep. The lake is considered sacred by the local people. A further 12 kms will bring you to Baba Mandir, dedicated to the memory of the soldier Harbhajan Singh. Evening free at Gangtok for shopping and individual activity.

Day 03

Gangtok to Pemayangtse

Morning transfer to Pemayangtse (123 kms / 6.5 hours). Pemayangtse is a very small Himalayan village in West Sikkim. Pelling is the nearest motorable point from Mt. Kanchendzonga, the world’s third-highest peak. It offers an all- day long view of Kanchendzonga and the entire Eastern Himalayan range. Evening free for individual activity and leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04

Excursion to Yuksom

After breakfast, drive to Yuksom (5,840 feet / 1,780 m; 35 kms / 2 hours). On the way, you will see panoramic views of Darap Village, Rimbi Waterfall & Hydro Project, and Khecheopalri Lake (6,000 feet / 1,829 m). The lake is one of the sacred Buddhist mountain lakes and it is believed that whatever is wished in front of the lake comes true. An interesting myth is that despite being surrounded by a forest, no leaves float on the placid surface of the lake since birds pick up any leaf which fall on it. A further drive takes you to Yuksom (literally, ‘meeting place of three monks’), the first capital of Sikkim. This was the place where the first Chogyal (a ruling dynasty in Sikkim) was crowned. In the evening, return to Pelling for overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 05

Pemayangtse to Kalimpong

In the morning, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and transfer to Kalimpong (115 Kms / 5 hours), a quiet hill resort in the eastern Himalayas. Kalimpong is famous for its orchids and nurseries, and some of the some of the rarest cacti and orchids can be seen. Oak, maple and chestnut stretch up the ridge as far as the eye can reach. Check in at the hotel. In the evening, visit the local market to gain in-depth knowledge about the local culture and community.

Day 06

Kalimpong Sightseeing and Transfer to Darjeeling

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for half-day sightseeing in and around Kalimpong covering Zong Dog Palri Fo Brang Monastery (also known as Durpin Dara Monastery), flower and orchid nurseries, and Dello Hill. Later transfer to Darjeeling (70 kms / 3 hours). Once the summer capital of India, Darjeeling is a land of infinite variety and charm. You will meet lively and charming Himalayan people. It is the place of Dorje, the mystic thunderbolt of the Lama religion. Surrounded by tea gardens, this little town faces some of the Himalayas’ highest peaks. Take some rest and then walk around the town to appreciate its culture. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 07

Darjeeling Local Sightseeing (9 am to 5 pm)

After breakfast at the hotel, set out to visit Yiga Choeling Monastery (popularly called Ghoom Monastery); Batashia Loop War Memorial; Padmaja N. Zoological Garden (closed on Thursdays), Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursdays), Tibetan Refugee Self-help Centre (closed on Sunday), Tenzing & Gombu Rock, tea estate, and Japanese Peace Pagoda. In the evening, take a leisurely walk on the mall road and visit the local market (closed on Thursdays).

Note: Tiger Hill Visit is subject to availability of permit on the previous evening. As per new regulations, a limited number of vehicles are issued permits. Since this cannot be confirmed in advance, the visit can be done on direct payment.

Day 08

Darjeeling - Bagdogra / New Jalpaiguri

In the morning, transfer to Bagdogra Airport / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station for your return trip home.
